Student of the Month
This SHO sponsored program recognizes outstanding high school performing arts students. SHO volunteers work with teachers and instructors to find deserving local students to receive this honored award. Students selected receive a small stipend to assist them in furthering their studies. They are are recognized in a SHOcase event. Award letters are sent to media outlets and school principals, and students receive $100 cash, two tickets to a performance at the Hult Center and their photo and biography featured in the SHO display case in the Hult Center lobby and the SHO website. Jennifer Fincher-Beard, a senior at Creswell High School, has been selected as the Performing Arts Student of the Month for October by SHO, the volunteer support organization at the Hult Center.
Jennifer is a talented multifaceted musician. She has had piano lesson for 11 year and won numerous awards, including 5 from the Oregon Music Teacher Association. She will sit for the Level X exam in May 2012. She also plays flute and percussion.
She has been active in the music and theatrical departments at Creswell High School for the last four years. She has played in the Concert Band, the Jazz Band, the Pep Band, as well as acting in the plays produced at Creswell High School.
Jennifer's family has been very supportive through the years. She is looking forward to majoring in music and continuing her studies at the University level next year.
Jennifer played J.S. Bach's "Invention No2 in C Minor" at the SHOcase performance on Thursday, October 20th at 11:15 a.m. in the Hult Center Lobby.
