SHO is a dynamic organization of people who donate valuable resources to
the Hult: their time, enthusiasm, insight and commitment. Volunteers offer
hospitality to the public and act as good will ambassadors for the Hult
Center and the performing arts. Many of our members volunteer their time
in SHO projects, although volunteering is not a requirement of membership.
SHO Volunteer Opportunities:
Information Desk
SHO volunteers greet patrons, offer information about arts events
. The Desk and Gift Shop are open every Thursday
of every month from 11:00 PM
to 1:30 PM and for every event in the Soreng and Silva theatres.
Tour Guides
Volunteer Tour Guides offer walk-in tours every Thursday and
Saturday at 1:00 PM. Arrangements may be made for special group tours by
calling 541/682-5733 at least two weeks in advance.
SHOcase
SHO sponsors and schedules free concerts every Thursday
noon in the Hult Center lobby from October through May. Staffing the concession
stand for these events is another volunteer opportunity. Click
SHOcase to see this season's concert calendar.
Usher Assistance
SHO volunteers assist the ushers by handing out programs, assisting
those with special needs, and greeting patrons at Hult events and SHOcase
concerts.
Performing Arts Student-of-the-Month
SHO volunteers work with teachers and instructors to find deserving local
students to receive this honored award. Students selected receive a
small stipend to assist them in furthering their studies.
Additional SHO Activities
Other volunteer activities include organizing and decorating
for seasonal events, developing project funding, writing and designing the
SHO newsletter, or participating in telephoning, mailing and welcoming committees.
SHO is a volunteer organization founded in 1983. It is a non-profit organization
dedicated to providing outreach, education, and community service projects
for Eugene's Hult Center for the Performing Arts. SHO provides a vital link
between the Center and the community. Past and current projects include
installing exterior bicycle racks, maintaining the lobby kiosk and providing
listening devices for the hearing impaired.
