Volunteer Opportunities:
Information Desk
SHO volunteers greet patrons, offer information about arts events . The
Desk and Gift Shop are open before
every event in the Soreng and Silva theatres. Binoculars and cushions are
available for rent at those times.
Tour Guides
Volunteer Tour Guides offer walk-in tours every Thursday and
Saturday at 1:00 PM. Arrangements may be made for special group tours by
calling 541/682-5733 at least two weeks in advance.
SHOcase
SHOcase has been reorganized. As of January, 2009, SHOcase will take
place every 1st and 3rd week of the following months: October through
May . Please click on "SHOcase Schedule" on the upper left hand side of
this page for more details.
Usher Assistance
SHO volunteers assist the ushers by handing out programs, assisting those with
special needs, and greeting patrons at Hult events and SHOcase concerts.
Performing Arts Student-of-the-Month
SHO volunteers work with teachers and instructors to find deserving local
students to receive this honored award. Students selected receive a small
stipend to assist them in furthering their studies.
Additional SHO Activities
Other volunteer activities include
organizing and decorating for seasonal events,
developing project funding, writing and designing the
SHO newsletter, or participating in telephoning, mailing
and welcoming committees.
SHO is a volunteer organization founded in 1983. It is a
non-profit organization dedicated to providing outreach,
education, and community service projects for Eugene's
Hult Center for the Performing Arts. SHO provides a
vital link between the Center and the community. Past
and current projects include installing exterior bicycle
racks, maintaining the lobby kiosk and providing
listening devices for the hearing impaired. The rental
of binoculars and cushions have been added to the list
of activities performed during HULT performances.
